The Dignity Declaration

YDD WEB BANNER
In response to the government's Spring Statement, which committed billions of pounds to military spending whilst cutting vital support for sick and disabled people, we have launched The Dignity Declaration.

More than 80 progressive political leaders have signed The Dignity Declaration in response to Rachel Reeves' Spring Statement. The declaration states that "some lives matter more than others" under this Labour government.

MPs, councillors and campaigners from across progressive politics - including Jeremy Corbyn, Zarah Sultana and Carla Denyer - have called for an alternative to the "enrichment of the few at the expense of the many". In addition, public figures such as actresses Maxine Peake and Francesca Martinez have added their names.

In response to the Chancellor's latest cuts to welfare, the letter condemns the government for pushing children and disabled people into poverty saying: "People were promised change, but their patience is running out. This is set to be the first Labour government in history under which child poverty increases. Labour’s failure has paved the way for Reform."

The Dignity Declaration calls for "an alternative path based on human need, not corporate greed" and a wealth tax to redistribute the hoarded money of the super rich into our public services.
