On Saturday 18 November, Peace & Justice Project hosted its first international conference at ITF House, featuring a wide range of global speakers on panels including 'A World Of Peace & Safety', 'Organising Workers Across Borders' and 'Climate Justice'.

Our founder, Jeremy Corbyn, opened the conference with a keynote speech in which he called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, fair pay for all workers and a Green New Deal to secure the sustainable future of our planet.

Throughout the day, we heard inspiring an insightful contributions from panellists in response to thoughtful questions from those in attendance. Answering one question regarding getting more young people involved in the trade union movement, Amazon Labour Union president Chris Smalls made the case for teaching union history in schools, concluding with an anecdote on the successful campaign to unionise the first Amazon site in the US: "No amount of money in the world can amount to the power of people when we come together".

The event was closed by British Palestinian human rights activist Leanne Mohamad, who made a powerful and impassioned plea to the UK and US governments for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and justice for the many thousands of Palestinians killed in the Israeli siege.

Other speakers featured throughout the day, including Lord Prem Sikka, Indian political scientist Navsharan Singh and author Tori Tsui.
