Speaking at the well-attended event in London, Jeremy Corbyn also paid tribute to the progressive health and education systems in Cuba, and sent his solidarity to presidents Petro of Colombia, Boric of Chile and the recently deposed president of Peru, Castillo.
“Cuba is constantly attacked because of the example it sets: one that shows countries can offer free education and healthcare for all even in the most difficult of circumstances.”
Addressing the attendees, Jeremy Corbyn also called for a united movement to hold huge corporations and oil companies exploiting Latin America to account: "Let's fight for justice for the victims of Chevron, against neoliberalism and the targeting of socialists, and to stop the extradition of Julian Assange to the United States".
Other speakers at the conference included Zarah Sultana MP, general secretary of the National Education Union Kevin Courtney and delegates from Latin American embassies.
