Independent Socialist Councillors: What We Stand For

Indy statement header

We stand for public service, equality and social justice, grounded in socialist values and an unwavering commitment to anti-racism.

We aim to build people-led politics — inclusive and empowering — with elected local representatives rooted in their communities and working together across the country.

We stand against austerity and for investment in public services — not cuts, closures, or privatisation. We champion social housing, and investment for our youth. We defend public services that are accessible and owned by the communities they serve.

We work together on the basis that the demands of the climate crisis are inseparably linked to people’s everyday lives, community wellbeing and economic justice.

And whether in Ukraine, Palestine or elsewhere, endless war and genocide only serves corporate interests and arms manufacturers, while threatening millions of lives and our planet, and siphoning off resources for the benefit of the few.

We are committed to giving power to people at the grassroots, and breaking down the barriers that divides us.

Our councillors will speak with the voice of their local communities. We stand for insourcing public services, delivered with dignity and fairness, and an end to private profiteering.

We will work against rising poverty, the dominance of corporate donors and the arms industry, and the silencing of working-class voices.

Our communities need councillors who will stand up — not stand by. We need voices that challenge injustice, not echo those who seek to divide and silence us.

We offer an independent, unflinching voice for the people: determined to fight for a future of justice, solidarity, and hope.

Together, we will build the power of our communities — and together, we can win.
