Keir Starmer: a legacy of complicity and political bankruptcy

BULLETPROOF A4 FULL POSTER (Facebook Cover) (2)
Keir Starmer may be resigning the office of Prime Minister but his legacy of total complicity in Israel’s genocide in Gaza will follow him forever.

From political cover for war crimes and the authoritarian suppression of peaceful protest in Britain, to the countless surveillance operations and arms exports to Israel, despite clear evidence of the mass murder of Palestinians, he has aided and abetted one of the greatest crimes in history.

He must simply never be allowed to forget his unbelievable October 2023 claim that he believes Israel "has the right" to cut off power and water to the over two million Palestinian civilians trapped in Gaza. This egregious disregard for international law and basic humanity set his government's tone on the genocide in Gaza, which continues to this day, with over 1000 civilians slaughtered since so-called ceasefire began.

Starmer's disgraceful disregard of Palestinian life, rights and protections has undoubtedly enabled the Israeli government to act with total impunity in Gaza and the West Bank. The failure of global leadership to prevent the atrocities inflicted on the Palestinian people will have wide-ranging implications for many generations to come.

Through the media circus that now surrounds Keir Starmer and the Labour Party, we cannot forget their numerous scandals and corruption. From the appointment of Peter Mandelson as US Ambassador, despite failing his security vetting and well known links to notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, to the numerous Labour Together scandals that have undermined democracy and journalistic freedom, Keir Starmer has repeatedly shown himself to be a duplicitous and a tool of the Labour right-wing to push privatisation, authoritarian policies and destroy the British left.

Starmer has also continually peddled misinformation on the state of the Labour Party finances he inherited, claiming that he party was in financial freefall following Jeremy Corbyn's leadership. The reality is that he took charge of the Labour Party which, at the time was the largest political party in Europe and had over 600,000 members. The sheer volume of members under Corbyn's leadership allowed the party to clear historic debts and invest in community organising and campaigns across the UK.

The party's financial security was all but eviscerated by legal costs and a severe decline in paid party membership.

Ultimately, Starmer will go down as one of the most unpopular Prime Ministers in British history. In less than two years, he has gone from a historic landslide to a Labour government on the brink of political extinction. He has pandered to and legitimised the far-right Reform rhetoric and left vulnerable communities vulnerable. He has knowingly and gleefully pushed families into poverty. He has armed genocide. He has shed more tears on the steps of Downing Street over the death of his political career than he has for 70,000+ massacred Palestinians.

And that will be his legacy. Complicity and political bankruptcy.

We will never forget - and we won't let him forget either.
