The demonstration, which also featured speakers from the ACORN union, Homes For All and London Renters Union, as well as the student movement other speakers including Nadia Whittome MP and Hannah Spencer MP, brought together people to demand the government takes action to resolve the housing emergency that continues to leave millions in insecure housing, temporary accommodation and strangled by debts caused by rip-off rents.

Speaking at the demonstration, Corbyn called for an immediate rent freeze and swift improvements to the "inadequate" local housing allowance.

The recent Peace & Justice Project annual conference also called for urgent action to solve the housing crisis, including building more council housing, handing greater power to local authorities and an end to the conflict of interest caused by landlord MPs.
